Adams is one of the streets running north to south through downtown Ypsi named for American statesmen - Washington Street is one block to the east, Hamilton Street one block to the west.
Historically, South Adams Street hosted many of Ypsilanti's black families from the mid-1800s to the early 1900s, as documented by South Adams Street @ 1900; many of the homes and churches prominent in this era still stand within Ypsilanti's historic district.
Adams is one-way, southbound, this direction only.
