Omari Rush is curator of public programs for the Ann Arbor Art Center, a job he took in June of 2014.

From 2005-2014, he was education manager at the University Musical Society. He is on the board of the Ann Arbor Public Schools Educational Foundation, and served as chair from 2012-2014. He's also a member of the board of directors of the Ann Arbor Awesome Foundation, the Neutral Zone, and the State of Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.
Rush is founder of shur!, which he describes as a "monthly series designed to help my peers say 'yes' (or 'shur') to an empowered life." He organizes the Ann Arbor "Fox Trot" (informally called "How To Be A Grown-Ass Man"), an occasional event for men that combines social interactions with tutorials on "gentlemanly things."
Rush is from Tallahassee, Florida and received his bachelor's degree from Florida State University. He earned a master's degree in music from the University of Michigan.
