Louisiana is famous for its food, and Baton Rouge has plenty of good stuff. Seafood is on every menu and often excellent. One caveat, though, is that most restaurants are closed on Sunday evening in this Catholic state.

The Chimes - A popular LSU hang out, the Chimes is conveniently located at the North Gates of campus. It is known for its extensive beer menu and its 35-cent oysters (all day Tuesday and 4-7 pm other days). Its food menu has plenty of Cajun favorites as well as good sandwiches and dinners for your visitors who are scared of seafood or spice. For a slightly different atmosphere, drive out to the much larger Chimes East on Coursey Boulevard.

Bellue's Cajun Cusine - I rode my bike by this place and it looked interesting. Looking at their website now, I guess it's more of a grocery store than a restaurant, but might be a notable spot for picking up cajun foods. Right next door to Bellue's Welding. (-: —Tobin LTK Seafood - large place up on Scenic Highway by the refinery; the smell of boiled seafood actually overwhelms the scent of refined petroleum!
