Merry Oaks is a center-city Charlotte neighborhood built in the 1940s and 1950s.

One neighborhood east of Plaza-Midwood, the small neighborhood includes artists, photographers, zoning activists, and young families. One street, Harbinger Lane, faced flooding from nearby Briar Creek, in 2008-2009, and homes were bought out through Charlotte's flood-zone program. The neighborhood now has built a community garden where houses once stood on Harbinger, with sunny, fertile plots going for $15/year.
