Mission Statement

Chico Community Watch is a citizen volunteer group dedicated to protecting the quality of life for all in the city of Chico and the surrounding area.  Made up of street, neighborhood, project issue, and project area groups, we focus on issues negatively affecting our community.  With a “boots on the ground” attitude, we take direct action to solve these issues in a peaceful and respectful way. You must be 18 years or older to participate in any CCW activities or you must be accompanied by an adult.  CCW is a volunteer group. Participate at your own risk.  Use good judgement.  All members are responsible for their actions.

What Can You Do?

First

Don’t be afraid when I say to start or join a watch group!  All you need to do is define and adopt an area and then collect phone numbers of individuals who live, work, or play in your area and are interested in keeping an eye on it.  BAM!!!  You’re a watch group.  You don’t need to have meetings.  You don’t need to be friends.  You don’t need a sign.  You don’t even need more than yourself to start and run a watch group.  It’s also possible to be part of a street, neighborhood and project area watch group all at the same time.  I can help you get started and set up a permanent post for your area(s) on our “Closed” Facebook pages (Chico Community Watch West and Chico Community Watch East).  Feel free to contact me on Messenger if you have any questions.  Another way to learn the ropes would be to join us on our cleanups, safety walks, and other activities.  It’s a great time to meet people and have casual conversations about particular issues you are having.

Second

Learn the ropes by talking to other watch groups and stay connected to our Public and Closed Facebook Pages.  We’ve learned a lot in the past few years and we have developed a few “techniques” we would be glad to share.  Make sure you read our “Mission Statement and Stuff” file.  We have some rules to keep everyone safe.

Third

We’re all faced with limitations.  Some have limited time due to work, family, or other obligations.  Some have physical limitations that don’t allow them to participate in  activities like cleanups.  However, the list of other things people can do to help keep Chico clean and safe are UNLIMITED.  All we ask is for you to get INVOLVED and do what you can.  Thank you and be safe.
