Derived from "Bonehil Fields", Bunhill Fields has been a burial ground since 1549 when wagonloads of bones from the charnel house at St. Paul's were deposited here. In 1665 it became a celebrated dissenters' burial ground. Today, it is managed as a public garden by the City of London.
