The Wigwam Resort is a lasting establishment in Litchfield Park. It is located on Wigwam Boulevard, just off Old Litchfield Road, across from the Litchfield Park Elementary School. The resort is a common host for events that happen in the community like holiday brunches and art festivals. In 1918, the first building was established on the site. It was known as the Organization House, and originally only housed six people (Burton).

It is known for its beautiful appeal and golf courses through Litchfield Park. “In 1930, the first nine-hole golf course was developed at the Wigwam, and in 1935, V. O. ‘Red’ Allen became the full-time golf pro and expanded the course to eighteen holes by 1941” (Burton). By 1975, the resort expanded their courses to three, and Robert “Red” Allen designed the course and it was named after him. The Wigwam is the only resort in Arizona with three eighteen-hole golf courses.

At first, the Wigwam only accommodated six people in 1918, then expanded to serve twenty-four guests in 1929, and again by 1940 to accommodate sixty-six guests. “Today, the resort has 331 guest rooms and 100,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space” (Phoenix Arizona Resort). The Wigwam has award-winning service and surrounded by green from not only the golf courses, but beautiful Litchfield Park. The resort is about fifteen miles from downtown Phoenix and a half hour from the Sky Harbor Airport.
