The fourplex of attached residences at 3034-3040 Richmond Boulevard were designed by Frederick Reimers and built in 1926. According to a Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board staff report from 1986, the fourplex's design features French Norman architecture characteristic of the 1920s, which contrasts with the generally Craftsman architecture of most houses in the neighborhood, which were built in earlier years. 1 A 2013 LPAB staff report for an adjoining property said this complex utilized French Provincial Revival architecture. 3
According to a 2013 staff report regarding 3054 Richmond Boulevard, another nearby house designed by Mr. Reimers, the fourplex is one of three homes designed and built by Mr. Reimers on property that was originally part of a five-acre estate owned by E.A. Howard, Mr. Reimers' father-in-law and business partner of Mayor Frank Mott. 3
On July 8, 1986 the fourplex was designated as an Oakland Landmark under Zoning Case File LM 86-55. 2
