Ansel Franklin Hall (May 6, 1894 – March 28, 1962) was a renowned naturalist who became the first chief naturalist, as well as the first chief forester of the US National Park Service.
Born in Oakland, California, Ansel F. Hall's parents were Charles H. Hall and Laura Viola Crocker. Hall attend the University of California, Berkeley, earning his bachelor's degree in forestry in 1917.
Ansel F. Hall was the author and editor of a number of publications, including the 1921 Handbook of Yosemite National Park.
A 1930 report Ansel Hall co-authored for an Oakland foundation advocated a regional parks system, which directly led to the establishment of the East Bay Regional Parks District.
