Peter Hegarty (September 10, 1965 – October 30, 2021) was a life-long journalist in the East Bay.
Hegarty grew up in Oakland, and attended Bishop O'Dowd High School. He was editor of the student newspaper at Laney College, where his work was noticed and got him hired at the East Bay Express. At the time of his death, he was a reporter for the East Bay Times. 1
