Like people in many cities, residents of Olympia eat food. We like food. Food is important.

There are a number of organic farms in the area, the Olympia Farmers Market is active and packed with great booths when it is open, the Olympia Food Co-op has two locations and may open a third, there are a lot of restaurants in Olympia with menus that range from organic, locally-sourced food to the kind of wickedly greasy vegan food that anybody can enjoy, and many Olympia residents make their living producing food distributed to local restaurants and stores.

On top of that, in June 2011 the City Council relaxed a lot of rules for "mobile vendor permits" making the city more friendly for food trucks
