Mission Statement

Asian Resources Inc. is a local non-profit organization which provides social services to low-income, immigrant, and refugee communities.

Established in 1980, Asian Resources Inc. (ARI), is a nonprofit community-based organization dedicated to empowering disenfranchised communities by assisting them in becoming proactive citizens and achieving self-sufficiency.

ARI is committed to providing a wide spectrum of social services to the low-income and limited English speaking youth, immigrant and refugee communities in Sacramento, as well as re-entry clients.

Programs offered by ARI:

Adult Employment Programs and Services:

Programs for Job Seekers: With a focus on assisting job seekers throughout the Sacramento Region at all points along the employment continuum, Asian Resources provides one-on-one case management to guide our diverse clientele in their search for employment. Job seekers may also elect to serve themselves with the agency's job listings, computer resources, fax machines and phone lines to connect themselves with regional employers. For those not yet ready for employment, our staff will provide vocational training, English-as-a-Second Language classes, referrals to child care programs, etc.

Refugee Programs: This program provides job placement assistance for recent arrivals to the United States. Participants must be able to provide immigration verification of refugee status. Participants attend English-as-a-Second Language classes while receiving one-on-one assistance from an Employment Service Specialist.

Sacramento Works Career Center: The career center provides clients with all the necessary resources to help prepare them for their first job, a career change or to move up in their current job. A staff member is available to provide them with job referrals, assessment tools or individualized services. Customers may also participate in a variety of workshop topics designed to give them the tools necessary to be a well prepared applicant in today's competitive job market. The resource area has computers, telephones, a fax machine, and a copier to support job seekers in their job search. There are many job listings for public viewing as well. No appointments are needed for these services.

On-the-Job Training: This program is designed specifically for Department of Human Assistance customers. These customers receive individualized services from an Employment Service Specialist who will match their skills with prospective employers. The employer provides hands-on training and the clients receive regular wages during training. Upon successful completion of training, the employers retain the clients.

Re-Entry Services: Asian Resources has recognized the growing population of formerly incarcerated individuals in our community. This group needs a variety of services in which we assess according to their needs. Asian Resources has developed workshops that include resume writing, interviewing techniques, soft skills that are required when applying for employment. Asian Resources staff is trained in this area to provide these services for both youth and adults. We are also assisting with personal needs such as food, clothing, housing as well as drug and alcohol referrals to our collaborative partner agencies throughout the county of Sacramento.

Youth Programs and Services:

Access Lounge/Youth Development Center: The center serves an a culturally diverse resource space for youth to access computers, printers, fax, machines, educational materials, job postings, and career development materials. The Access Lounge is open every Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at our Broadway location.

Together We Succeed & Summer Youth Program: Youth gain experience and important life skills througn on-the-job and classroom training.

Challenge Program: Comprehensive re-entry services to youth such as coodination of academic, vocational, and employment services, coupled with mental health and substance abuse counseling.

Youth RISE: Youth RISE is a group of young diverse leaders (15-20 years of age) whose mission is to create positive social change by creating an empowering community and advancing the voice of young people. Youth RISE meets every Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at our Broadway office.

Job Fairs Educational Training Recruitment and Screening: Pre-screen qualified candidates Internship Programs: Employers receive pre-screened referrals and wage reimbursement Rapid Response: Assist employers with human resources challenges

Community Collaboratives/Services:

SMUD Energy Assistance Program Rate (E.A.P.R.): A program wherein qualifying community residents receive a monthly discount of up to 30% on their SMUD bill PG&E CARE Program: A program wherein community residents can also receive a 20% discount on their monthly utility bill ESL/Citizenship Class: Held a ARI’s Main Office and Citrus Heights Office Citizenship/Naturalization Preparation Services: a program to support citizenship applicants through the application process Homeowner & Renters' Assistance: A program to provide application assistance for low-income elderly, LEP, and disabled residents applying for homeowners/renters credit VITA/EITC Tax Preparation Volunteer Service: A program wherein staff members help low-income community members file their taxes and claim Earned Income Tax Credit Healthy Families Application Assistance: A low cost health insurance program for qualifying families.
