St. Francis High School is a four-year, all-female college preparatory high school. It is the only Catholic high school in Sacramento affiliated with the Diocese of Sacramento, and serves young women hailing from over fifty private and public feeder schools in the California counties of Sacramento, Solano, Yolo, El Dorado, and Placer.

St. Francis is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Western Catholic Education Association (WCEA).

Established as a school for young women in 1940, St. Francis High School encourages the education of the whole person by providing high academic standards, a Christian environment for spiritual development, a full range of athletics, fine and performing arts, numerous on-campus clubs, and a variety of social activities.

Award-winning new buildings constructed in 2003-2004 doubled the size of the school facilities. The Fine and Performing Arts Complex, Library/Resource Center, Gymnasium/Fitness Complex, four science labs and an Administration Building brought a new esthetic to SFHS's East Sacramento location while providing a state of the art learning environment. In 2009, the Carlsen and Demetre Center for Campus Life opened, serving as the hub of social and spiritual campus life and providing office space for students and staff in Campus Ministry and Student Activities.

St. Francis High School is currently conducting a capital campaign with the goal of constructing a new Dining Hall, and additional classrooms. The beautiful and functional structures on the St. Francis campus serve as the framework in which the school's mission continues and young women enjoy an educational experience that is uniquely "St. Francis."

St. Francis High School is well known for its strong academic program. Beyond a college preparatory education and an outstanding range of athletics, arts, and other extracurricular activities, St. Francis, as a girls' school, gives you something unique - an environment where you can be yourself, strengthen your moral and ethical foundation, explore exciting challenges, develop deep and lasting friendships, and acquire competence, confidence, and strong leadership skills.

St. Francis High School offers 12 sports, including Basketball, Volleyball, Golf, Tennis,  Soccer, Swimming, Diving, Water Polo, Softball,  Cross Country, Track and Field & Lacrosse
