Jacosa is a native of Sacramento, California, where she attended American River College and began her study of Jazz repertoire. While at ARC, she performed at various venues including the International Association of Jazz Educators and California Music Educators Association conventions, completed several recordings and was awarded 6 Downbeat Magazine Music Awards, including two for solo work. After leaving ARC with an Associate degree in Jazz Studies and a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, she completed a Bachelors in Professional Music with emphasis on Business and Performance. During her time at Berklee, she became one of the standout singers in Berklee’s well-respected vocal program, was twice selected to sing in Maggie Scott’s Jazz Vocal Series and was recognized as a gifted composer by Berklee faculty. Her debut album, “There I Go”, was released in June of 2007 and, musically combining a little of her Polynesian heritage with her love for Jazz, it has already turned heads in the Jazz community. She recently completed a Masters of Music Education from Boston University and became the vocal director for the distinguished Natomas Charter School Performing and Fine Arts Academy, where she currently teaches, in addition to performing around the Sacramento area.
