Mission Local is a local publication that focuses on life in the Mission District.
Previous Non-Profit Status
Originally, Mission Local was a non-profit and the operation was run and supported by the UC Berkeley School of Journalism. As such, their articles were written by Berkeley J-School students, so they were pretty high quality and often in-depth.
In late February of 2014 the UC Berkeley J-School announced they would no longer be financially supporting Mission Local, and Lydia Chavez, the site's editor, announced she would be turning the venture into a for-profit organization and seek investors.
Location
They previously had a tiny office in the Mission on 17th street.
Their most recent office was located on the corner of 22nd Street and Mission Street, which was lost in a 4-alarm fire on January 28th, 2014. http://missionlocal.org/2015/01/fire-at-mission-and-22nd-street/
