Attica Resident and NYS Senator

Lived: August 16, 1811 - March 14, 1916

Biography

Frederick was born in Attica and attended Attica High School. He went on to attend Cornell University but left without a degree due to poor heath. He then went west to work on the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad a company his father was a larger stockholder in.

When Frederick returned to Attica he established the Maplewood Hackney Stud and Stock Farm where he raised prize-winning stock. He also engaged in banking.

Frederick then ran for election in state senate as a Republican and was elected to two terms as New York State Senator representing the 46th district from 1903-1906. He was appointed Chairman of the Committee on Roads and Bridges and was a member of Finance, Villages, Banks, and Agriculture. After his time as senator he became Superintendent of Public Works where he served from 1907-1911.

Frederick died in a barn on his farm in Attica "from apoplexy" and he is buried at Forest Hill Cemetery.

His Obituary says he was active in bank affairs in Washington D.C. and was said to have been a millionaire.
