Paul William De Fremery (February 26, 1898 - March 14, 1933) was the President of the San Francisco Stock and Bond Exchange, member of the San Francisco Bohemian Club and founder of de Fremery and Company.
The son of James de Fremery, Jr. and Wilhelmina Suermondt de Fremery, Paul was born in New York, and with his family moved to Oakland, California following the death of his wealthy Grandfather James de Fremery. He attended the University of California at Berkeley where he was a member of the Beta Chi Pi fraternity, graduating with honors in 1918.
Paul de Fremery married Lucille Meredith Parr in 1918, and together they had two children; Paul William de Fremery, Jr., and Cecile de Fremery, who died in 1982 of cancer.
Work as an economist and stockbroker both in Oakland and San Francisco lead to the founding of his own firm, de Fremery and Company.
After losing his fortune in the 1929 stock market crash, de Fremery traveled to New York to try and restore the funds, but while in New York, he became extremely ill with pneumonia and died when he was only 36 years old.
The ashes of Paul William De Fremery, Sr. are buried in the de Fremery family plot in Mountain View Cemetery.
